I Wish You Love

Image
If love could talk, what would it say?  Oh, but doesn't it?  If  love could talk? Love talks. Love is loud and it is silent.  Love speaks in every language, and has no boundaries. Love sounds like everything that makes you smile, but also all the things that make you cry.  What would love say...   You are beautiful. I miss you. Have you eaten? Drive safe. Are you okay? I am worried about you. Did you sleep well? Don't go.  You can have mine...  I love you.  Love speaks in touch, in smiles, and in tears. It speaks in moments and memories and in the soft light of morning. It breaks silence in the dark, it holds fear in it's hands. Love warns, it cheers, it hopes. It is patient, and impatient. It's excitable and calming. It speaks a hundred words a minute, or just one. Love is omnipotent and ignorant, brilliant and foolish. It is hard and it is gentle. It is new and it is old.  You are beautiful.  I miss you.  I love yo...

Post Unposted and Left Undone. Untied with grace.

Image
It's been more than a year since I've sat down to this blog. I have no idea why I didn't publish this post.  It's just been sitting for a year?  In fact, I couldn't even remember what I had written about here until I reread it all, and still, some things have left me wondering why I can't remember what they mean today.  I suppose what they say is true - "take whatever is worrying you - will it matter a year from now?".  I decided not to edit it, just post it with a quick note and leave it as is, curiosity and all.   I've said for years that I wanted to take a weekend away and write letters to the most important people in my life.  You know... "in case".  I don't ever want my people to wonder or to be left with questions.  I have since learned that simply saying what you need to, when you need to will always hold water.  I hope more times than not, it helps a cup runneth over.  I love you guys.   Write a "than...

Lighting Up The Darkness

Image
Explain lightening to a five year old.  Sometimes, we find ourselves watching a storm.  Clouds roll in, and skies go dark.  Some people, they run for cover.  They hide inside. But those people are missing it all.  They are missing it all!  You see, my sweet, lightening is powerful.  It can light up the darkest places. Think of the darkest place you can.  If there's just one little crack in that whole place, lightening can get in and fill all those dark spaces with the most powerful light.  It's the heavens reaching down to the things that are standing the tallest!  It crashes to Earth with electric power.  It makes it statement and forces the Earth to absorb it's voice. Now, I wouldn't recommend you go out and stand in it's immediate path.  It's wicked and fierce, and it has the power to stop your heart and change your life.  I'm just saying that I never want you to be afraid of powerful light that comes with an imba...

Put Me Back

An alien has just abducted you.  Give it three reasons why it would send you back to Earth.  1.  Love - I just found mine, and it's finally my turn. Put me back. 2.  Defiance - I don't do well with being told what to do.  So, if that's the plan, this won't go well.  Put me back. 3.  Ever tried to get in between a momma bear and her cubs?  You better run. Put me back.

Set Another Plate

Image
You are planning the dinner party of your dreams and there are eight chairs.  You can invite seven other people (anyone still alive).  Who will fill the chairs and what will make this dinner interesting?  This has been one of my favorite questions of all time.  I have shared it with many people, and I actually hope when I post this, you will share your guest list with me.  I find the answers fascinating. I spent weeks on this list, where others knew right away.  I had a very different list when we changed the question to include anyone at all-passed or alive .  But alas, the question stands - anyone alive, eight chairs, one is for you.  Who's in the room filling those seats? Oddly, I went straight to a celebrity list.  People I would love to have a conversation and listen to their stories.  I don't know why they are known people.  I can't really explain it.  Maybe I should have more than one list? This would be my perfect ce...

Quit Wasting Time

Image
Finish this sentence. "Life is short..." "...quit wasting time on things that don't fill your soul."

Batton Down The Hatches

Image
Write a weather forcast for your day tomorrow. The past couple of days have been deceitfully clear, hiding storms that may knock over a house of cards without warning.  The sun has been shining, but the atmosphere wreaks of changing winds and a time of cleansing.  Make sure you have you have your hatches battoned, she might be a doozie.  I wouldn't under estimate any storm that might hit without warning.  They seem to destroy the most things in their path.

In The Name Of Prestige

Image
You've just been given a limousine for a day.  What will you do?  Limo for a day...what to do, what to do... Drive to a school and pick up an entire kindergarten class and take them for ice cream?  I don't know - it seems such a frivolous thing, someone to drive you around in the name of prestige.  Might as well make it a memory for someone who thinks it's amazing.

Does Good Intention Always Prevail?

You're running for President of the United States.  What thing from your past could your opposition use against you? Here's the thing about politics - it's all a smoke show.  If any politician acquired a leader's seat with the true intention of changing the world, wouldn't this world be a different place... Today's society is riddled with bullshit.  It's a twisted mess of social media propaganda of what someone else wants you to hear, and to think, and to believe.  Presidents and candidates alike spend years slinging shit at each other, degrading each other as humans, and these are the people we are supposed to put our trust in to rule the world.  What a sad place to start.  I've always said if given such an opportunity, my campaign would be different.  Let's talk about solutions to problems and how we, as a human race can be better - for the good of the whole.  I wonder how many others started out with the same intention and got caught up in ...

Dear, Sweet Mother Nature

Image
If you could talk to Mother Nature, what would you say? Oh Mother Nature, my old friend, how exhausted you must be.  I can't imagine being you. Let me start with my gratitude for the sunshine.  The skies in my part of the world have been gray for so long.  The past few days, the sky has been the brightest blue and the sun has warmed my chilled soul.  Oh how I have been longing for the warmth and the light.  Secondly, color has returned to the outside, and my eyes are gloriously appeased by the bursts of life and newness that shows itself every single day.  Thank you, thank you.  Gratitude is so often left by the wayside, and never in abundance.  I will not take your gifts for granted, and I know the struggles you have every day to please everyone despite the lack of attention to your care. The rain has washed away the winter days, and has brought green and life to the Earth.  The grounds are soaked and the foliage is drinking it in. ...

Life's Lil Lemons

Image
Finish this sentence in three alternate ans original ways: " When life gives you lemons..." For the sake of metaphor popularity, I am assuming this means when you're handed a sour situation, and your forward intention with it.  The fact is, I love lemons.  They are bright and beautiful, and delicious!  Why do they such a tough rap?  It's really unfair.  I think lemons deserve a better story. "When life gives you lemons, make lemon loaf."   Because it's delicious, that's why.  And it goes well with tea. "When life gives you lemons, growing a whole tree full is harder than you think."  Go ahead, take a minute and let that one just sink in.  No matter what angle you look at that from, it's good advice.  It is, really much harder to grow a tree full of "problems" than to just bury the one in your hand.  But if you don't deal with the seeds, you surely have the potential.  And, on the other hand of positivity, with the r...

A Real Life Spit Fire

Image
If you knew it would be published, name someone (alive or dead) whose biography you would love to write. You would have full access to their life.  Sometimes, in this writing project, I don't even know how I am supposed to choose.  With full access to a person's life, and the willingness to really delve in, listen and create something as great as a story of their life to share with the world, how does one choose just one person?  I mean really, there's a whole world of these glorious humans that all have a story, and really, no one knows it.  No one knows it all except one person, and that's the absolute truth.  When more than one person knows your secret, more than one person knows your secret. I think, for the purpose of sentimentality today, I will leave the celebrity biographies to someone else, and stick to my own.  I have often thought about sitting with my granddad, asking him to tell me stories so I could chronicle them all on paper.  I hav...

Stick The Landing

Image
Finish this sentence: " I would love to jump into a pile of..." I keep picturing this, over and over, thinking what I want to be beneath me when I land.  I can think of a hundred things I'd love to jump into - feathers, a big pile of quilts, pillows, leaves.  Everything thing that I can think of that I would I want  to jump into brings me the same emotion - nostalgic joy. Remember, as a kid, piling up quilts and pillows in a fort you'd spent hours building, then running and throwing yourself into them, just to settle with a sigh of contentment and wallowing in comfort, hoping no one would ever come ask you to move?  Or on a warm autumn night, when you've spent hours raking the yard into the most gigantic pile of leaves on the planet, and you line yourself up from the neighbor's yard, sprinting towards that pile of crunching, sweet smelling leaves, jumping in, giggling and laughing at the hours of work strewn across the lawn?  I remember raking for hours w...

Egosauruses

Image
Do you think dinosaurs and humans could co-exist today?  What would make it possible or impossible? Human ego is a dangerous thing.  I don't know what the great creator was thinking when he gave us ego.  Does it serve good?  Ever?  Human ego is responsible for all destruction, for all pieces of conflict, for all struggle.  Ego is responsible for poverty, greed, war, hatred, death and, I believe, will be responsible for the eradication of the human species as we know it. Do I think humans could ever peacefully co-exist with dinosaurs?  No.  There would always be some one who needed to kill it to prove how much more powerful they are than another species.  There will always be someone who needs to conquer it all.  Humans can barely co-exist on a planet with each other and with the creatures we are gifted with today.  It's a sad world we've grown to take advantage of. Beyond the human ego that would seek to kill for trophy, dinos...

On a Mission

Image
Outline a "mission statement" for you life.  I've said a thousand times over.  "When I get to the end of my days, my hope is for someone (hopefully more than one someone) to say 'I am different because of her.  She had an affect on me and how I live'".  That is truly my mission.  Making a positive difference in someone's life. I have always been an advocate for things I am passionate about.  It comes naturally to me to be kind to other humans.  I try, on a daily basis to reach people, and sometimes that means tying a knot at the end of their rope so they can have something to hang on to.  That's why I write. It's why I always want to do more - help more, see more, do more. I write things for people in order to touch their soul.  Maybe it's something I've been through, worked through, trudged through.  Maybe it's something that gives me joy.  Maybe I had a need to share my tears, and my longings with someone who might unders...

Soled With Sass

Talk about your favorite pair of shoes and why you love them so much.   Hold on one second.  I have to choose ONE pair of favorite shoes.  One?  Look, it's not like I'm all Carrie Bradshaw about shoes... but sometimes I'm a little Carrie Bradshaw about boots. Shoes are shoes.  But boots... boots make the girl.  I'm going to be right back.  Wait here.  I have to show you something so you understand. (enter 15 minute time lapse here) Okay - I'm back, let's clarify. These are the boots I have in the house.  These are the boots I have out in the garage. I swear, every single pair has a story.  New boots are always welcome, and I am always sad when I decide to give up a pair boots.  The struggle is real. A select few of you may notice the red ones are gone.  It's true.  It was hard.  Let me tell the rest of you about the red boots.  I got them when I was 17.  They were $98.00 and t...

Remotely Controlled

Image
Name something you wish you a remote control that currently does not.  To pause time, to hold onto moments just a little longer, freeze a smile just so you could look at it for as long as you wanted.  To replay joyous moments, to fast forward through the hard and ugly things that crush our souls.  To mute the words we don't want to hear, to adjust the volume according to our mood.  To switch channels with ease, and record our favorite things.  To turn it on when we want, and shut it off when we just can't take anymore... Life.   Wouldn't it be grand? I wonder though, how much we'd miss while we're busy looking back, or rewinding.  I wonder what would pass by while we are looking at what we might miss while it's on pause.  I wonder what we'd learn if we just could fast forward through everything that shapes who we are.  How much time would we spend trying to catch up to our own realities?  And how do we know when it's time to turn it...

Follow The Yellow Brick Road

Image
If you found yourself in Oz, what would you do differently than Dorothy?  What an odd question.  When thinking about this, my initial answer was that I wouldn't ever be in Oz like Dorothy was because I'd have been smarter about the storm brewing outside, and I'd have been in the cellar long before the tornado could twist me up and land me in Oz, making the rest of the story irrelevant. But, alas, the question says I'm in Oz - sooooo.... I'm in Oz, I'm walking the Yellow Brick Road to get to Emerald City to meet the Wizard.  I meet the Tin man, the Scarecrow and the Lion, and claim them as friends. Hmmm... different? Nope.  Run into some munchkins, some winkies, beasts and witches.  Take advice from the munchkins, tame the beasts, and set the winkies free - yep, good stuff, nothing different here.  She kills the bad witches, and accepts help from the good witches and goes back home.  Sounds about right?  Stumped. My only thought is in ...

Finding Falkor

Image
Name a fictional character or monster you love to have as a friend.  Why do you think they would be a good friend to you?  Oh, my fellow eighties kids... you know who this is, and you know you want him as your own.  In fact, many of you just smiled in nostaligc longing. "Falkor is very wise, incredibly optimistic, dignified and a very friendly sophisticated being from Fantasia. He gives advice to people when they have lost hope in many things they set out to do whether in a quest for what they seek or in some cases people and beings have given up altogether and lost faith. Falkor's attitude purely comes from his heart, it is proven that his openess to making friends means a lot to everyone he encounters, into which Falkor in return treasures every friendship he has. Falkor however never wants to make enemies, only those who are threats to his freinds or threats in general towards Fantasia itself". Well that fits the bill perfectly, now doesn't it? It took m...

Indulge Me

Image
It's my blog, and can if I want.  Two questions in a row - because they are related, and I said so. If you could indulge in anything without consequence, what would it be?  Food. All of it.  Any of it. Anytime.  Food without consquence of gaining of weight.  Yes. I don't feel the need to elaborate.  It's pretty clear.  I love food.  Someone once told me your weight is on a scale of 85% of what you eat.  Dammit.  I can't unhear it, but most days, I just don't care.  I don't want to get to my last days and wish I had eaten the cupcake.  I always eat the cupcake. You have to design a cocktail or drink after yourself.  What ingredients are in it and what will you name it?  I've already done this many years ago, and it made it to the menu at a local restaurant in my hometown.  It's pink, it's pretty, it's sweet and fruity and gentle to throw back.   Dirty Shirley, with a sugared rim.     It's ...
